Nicki Minaj x Pynnderella: A Conversation w/ the Queen

"Tryna build another barbie doll, screws lose." - Nicki Minaj

Soooo, I interviewed Nicki the Ninja, Nicki the Harajuku Barbie, right? The barb in me came out. And, of course, I pulled up with my 'barb facts', shot gun, in the pink convertible!

In 2012, Nicki debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 for Pink Friday, holds 17 no. 1's, and broke the Guinness World Record as the first female rap duo, with Doja Cat, reaching Billboards No. 1 spot. Now, headling her 4th PF2 world tour in 2024!!

They love the flow, they still streamin. '

Now, even with the stats stattin', as they are, the current generation would like to believe Minaj's iconic history can be erased because of her bold personality and digital trail of unorthodox tweets and opinions. So, surely, I'd need to ask the Queen about her personal experience dealing with this timeline of changes. Inquiring minds can't fathom the double standards and constant moving of the goal post.

We literally went from rapping about Itty Bitty Piggies in a market as teenagers to singing about womanhood with this fun, fresh, female MC, who went from viral freestyle videos, joining Wayne's empire, then, taking over the radio scene, hit by hit.

Daring to be different. Constantly switching the flow. Breaking records. Painting the town pink. Adding spice. Shakin' shyt up like a strawberry-jalapéno margarita. Debuting with 375k first week sales, in a time where streaming was cool, but not nearly what it's become, making Pink Friday the second highest in female grossing sales, right after Miseducation.

15 years, love, marriage, a baby carriage, and a Pink Friday 2 album later, Red Ruby the Sleeze is headling a major WORLD tour, with not one, but... TWO legs! The first leg successfully sold out many arenas, making Pink Friday 2 the highest-grossing female tour of all time for a female rapper, in the first 17 shows!

PF2 FUN FACT:

Her Madison Square garden show alone grosssed $2.858 million and broke the record for most first week vinyl sales in female rap history, selling 25k.

Oh, I guess now is a great time to mention, I only interviewed the Head Barbie in Charge... in my head. LOL No, seriously though, once I'm granted the permission to be in the presence of Queens' Queen, the interview would go something liiiiiiike...

Nicki Minaj x Pyns. Poyms. Poshyns.

Written by Pynnderella, of course.

First of all, the greeting would be off the charts. I'd begin with a bar or two, maybe a verse or hook. And before hopping into the journey, it's impereative we keep it current for the PF2 gems.

As PF was already a great body of work, what was it like creating a part 2, nearly having the same first week sale success as Pink Friday, more than a decade later? What was it like getting in the studio, selecting and recording these songs? The double and tripple entendres are insane! I loved...

He like the way I smell, PF2

He bend me up, pre-etzel

I let him have his cake and I let him eat it too

He might jack and yell, let him beat it too

Pink birthday card, this for me to you

Speaking of similiar first week success, we saw Billboard take away 100k sales from your Pink Friday 2 data. Now, I saw you asking for PROOF of sales by way of reciept submissions, and they still made that decision.

Can you explain this... how other female rappers have done giveaways, contests, and even threatened thier fanbases (fatally!) screamig into the screen, yet, THEE Nicki Minaj is still having to prove her authenticity when it comes to the barbs, accolades, and cultural impact?

Speaking of accolades, there is literally no one else in your career field (relevant TODAY) who has grossed or sold as many copies as you, not to mention toured the world, several times, succesfully.

How do you not have a GRAMMY?

Not one song on (a few albums we don't need to mention) outsold or outstreamed even your oldest hits.

Do you care to have one at this point, knowing your competiton isn't competing at the same level?

For reference, all of the female rappers who put albums out this year (2024), AFTER PF2, combined, haven't measured up to your sales, what does this feel like for you?

Why do you think you're expected to talk nicely in your music when every other hiphop artist and song talks about being the best, as well?

FUN FACT:

Tupac actually went #1 for different albums in the same year, and still never got a GRAMMY.

We aren't in the mall, but there's a gap between you and them.

The girlies simply haven't built the fan base to accomplish the numbers you've accrued. #NoShade

Yet, you're mostly only credited by the barbs, these days.

How does this happen? Do you think you are "too" vocal?

What's the biggest feeling of betrayal you have experienced in the industry?

The internet seems to think it's ALL YOUR FAULT when shit hits the fan.

When did this start happening? Are you really that difficult to work with? Are you a chuckie doll when barbies go to bed?

I personally see celebrities going off all the time. Spewing hate. Cursing and screaming. And to my surprise, any time you jump out of the bag online, you very rarely mention names unless addressing someomne directly. I don't see the rants or informational series of emotion/business posts as starting shit.

Buuuuut, what is going through Onika's head when she's sonnin' heauxs?

What does it take for you to respond?

Do you ever wish Drake or Wayne, or anyone, would speak up in favor of you during some of your feuds? We see you stepping in all the time for those you love. Does this matter to you?

What are the conversations like when you work with artists they've feuded with and vice versa? Like, J Cole is featured on 'Let Me Calm Down' on PF2. And you added Chris Brown to the FTCU Remix. Was that a thing?

On a daily basis, (because we know it's daily) you "Break the internet, at will, now"!

What is it like to see that any time another rapper cannot feature you, work with you, or is about to drop music, you are mentioned?

What has become your inital reaction to this, besides tweeting? I'd imagine that comes second to your inital thoughts.

Heavy is the head, but why do you think you are paying such a different price than other legends? Do you believe it's because you're 'just a girl' or because you literally HAVE NOT been topped? Or because you go against the status quo?

I'm trying to ask questions I feel haven't been answered from your artistry, already. But, you do this thing where you give the barbs so much, without giving too much.

Like, we know about your love for Young Money (the monster crew), your love for supporting artists who have performed on tour with you, Papa Bear & Zoo.

But, what does Nicki really do for fun with her circle?

What is something Nicki Minaj NEEDS in the studio?

Speaking of studio needs, you just told us another album is on the way, and we saw a certain artist tease an act 2 on the initial date you said you'd release. The next day or so, you switched the whole shyt up and chose not to add another act to PF2.

Was that intentional?

Do you think the tables will ever turn? Do you care?

Is there anyone you would want to publicly reconcile with?

Why?

Will we ever see a more relaxed Nicki?

....... I can't give yall all my questions. But there you have it.

And, just like that, I just manifested the greatest interview Nicki Minaj will ever do.

When it goes live, come back here and leave me a comment.

Shutup, Shabetti.

Holler.
