From Lowriders to Legacy: The LA Wray Experience Was a West Coast Fairytale in Motion

The glass slipper is off, but my pyn is down — let’s get into it.
Los Angeles, meet your modern-day fairytale. The LA Wray Experience took over The Sol in Carson, California and it wasn’t just a concert. It was a full-throttle cultural love letter wrapped in lowriders, blue carpet energy, and a soundtrack straight from the heart of the district.

LA Wray made her entrance in a candy-painted cherry red lowrider with hydraulics that bounced like the beat of Crenshaw Blvd. Behind her, a procession of colorful lowriders lined the entryway, not parked, but posted like royalty. This wasn’t just about showing up. It was about showing out.
The energy turned kinetic as the Boom Squad exploded onto the scene. The kids hopped out the truck, hit their crip walks, squabbled, crumped, and even backflipped into their sets. And when that whistle blew? They snatched up Storm DeBarge, LA’s dance queen herself, who shut it down with inner g, groove, grit, and footwork fire. Her c-walk and crump combo? Straight hall-of-fame material. I always love seeing her in her element.
Just off to the side, a local artist customized hats in real time at the spray paint station… tagging up pieces “The LA Wray Experience” as the city watched their style take shape.
Of course, Soul’d Out held it down with jerk chicken, tacos, rice, and mac, the kind of plates that keep the culture fed.
On the ones and twos, DJ HJC kept the energy high between sets, spinning West Coast heat and setting the tempo for the night’s magic.
And I ended my work on the carpet with a toast. Cognac x pineapple juice at the bar with my girl Ashton from the Recording Academy before we headed to the main stage to watch Wray close it out like a queen.
Inside, Wray’s set unfolded like an audio-biopic: outfit changes and musical transitions that flowed between emotional rap and gangsta vibes. All delivered with the clarity of a woman who’s lived it. This wasn’t just performance, it was truth in real time.
Gina Views brought her bold hosting energy and signature crowd game, “Spit or Swallow,” where she snatches unlocked phones from brave audience members and searches for the word swallow. In a twist of fate, she ended up with my phone and actually saw a text I’d written about her, because I was joking with her management about her needing to clean her phone out since I was gonna flip the game on her. So yep, that’s karma, and comedy gold, media style. HA!

The crowd went up when Reason touched the stage as a surprise guest. AJ the Uno followed with a joint performance alongside Wray, blending lyricism with sisterhood in every bar.
After the final bow, the love poured in and so did the gifts. Wray was gifted bundles of blue flowers, a custom varsity jacket, and a personalized gold jewelry piece by her amazing team.
Meanwhile, 70Ninety was on-site taking custom gold orders, letting guests leave the venue not just inspired, but laced.

And you know I was on the blue carpet interviewing for PYNN’d News. You know my Drÿppyn fashion segment went crazy: where fashion meets fairytales. I asked: If your outfit were a Los Angeles fairytale, what would the title be? Then flipped it with a little This or That: LA Street Style Edition.
I had the honor of interviewing:
